The Ultimate 6 Day Bangkok Itinerary – Updated For 2020!

This is my 6 Day Bangkok itinerary, consisting of some of my favourite activities to do in this bustling city. Note that I have arranged the activities in order of priority, so you can use this itinerary no matter whether you are spending one day, two day, three day, four day, five day, or six days in Bangkok. For example, if you only have one day in Bangkok, you can just do the activities for day one. If you are able to spend six days, then you can go with the entire itinerary below.

Day 1 – Pratunam


Pratunam is home to awesome eateries, shopping malls, and affordable massage parlours. It is arguably the most popular area for tourists in Bangkok.

9am – Breakfast at SabX2


SabX2 is a street restaurant known for its scrumptious wanton noodles and pork leg rice. Even though it is quite a touristy spot, I actually found the food here to be really delicious.

10am – Shop at Platinum Fashion Mall


Platinum Fashion Mall is a famous six-storey shopping mall where you can find a huge variety of stalls selling clothes, fashion accessories, bags, shoes, mobile accessories, etc, at wholesale prices. If you are interested in IT gadgets or cameras, you can also check out the nearby Pantip Plaza.

2pm – Lunch at Platinum Fashion Mall Food Court


After exploring Platinum Fashion Mall, we will usually have lunch at the air-conditioned food court on the sixth floor. The food here is delicious and very affordable. The food court is brightly-lit and clean too.

3pm – Shop At CentralWorld


CentralWorld is a modern mega shopping mall home to many global retail shops and restaurants. It is quite similar to malls in Singapore, but the wife enjoys window shopping around here.

5pm – Dinner at Greyhound Cafe (CentralWorld)


Greyhound Cafe is a famous cafe chain that serves delicious Thai and Western-Thai fusion dishes. It is one of our favourite cafes in Bangkok.

Our favourite dish is the signature Greyhound Fried Chicken Wings (THB160), which are tender and juicy fried winglets.

7pm – Number One Massage


After a whole day of shopping, it’s time to relax your sore muscles! Number One Massage is a well-known street massage parlour where you can get massages at very affordable prices. A one-hour Thai massage costs just THB250.

So far I’ve always had great massages here. The masseuses are always able to accurately target the painful knots and tensions in my muscles.

9pm – Talad Neon Night Market


Talad Neon is a relatively new night market conveniently located in the Pratunam area. It is home to neat rows of stalls selling clothes, fashion accessories, toys, souvenirs, and street food of course. The wife and I like coming to this night market because it is very clean and well-organised.

11pm – Big C Supercenter Rajadamri


Big C Supercenter Rajadamri is a huge supermarket in Pratunam, opposite CentralWorld. I have left this activity for the last because it opens daily until 2am!

The wife and I come here every time we visit Bangkok to buy delicious Thai snacks to bring back to Singapore.

Day 2 – Siam


Siam is a vibrant shopping hub that is home to some of Bangkok’s most popular shopping malls! It is a convenient location that can be easily reached via the Siam BTS station.

10am – Breakfast at Gram Cafe & Pancakes (Siam Paragon)


Gram Cafe & Pancakes is a Japanese pancake shop chain famous for its Premium Pancake (THB295) – a jiggly stack of three thick pancakes, served with whipped cream, maple syrup, and butter.

This was a very satisfying treat, and best of all there was no queue when we went to the Siam Paragon branch! There is another branch at CentralWorld too.

11am – Shop at Siam Square


Siam Square is a vibrant shopping and entertainment district home to various famous malls like Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Square One, and MBK. You can easily spend a few hours browsing around here.

1pm – Lunch at Inter Restaurant


Inter is a famous Thai restaurant that serves delicious local food at affordable prices. It is very popular with both locals and tourists.

Whenever the wife and I visit Bangkok, we will always drop by this no-frills eatery conveniently located near Siam BTS station.

You can’t go wrong with eating at Inter!

3pm – Desserts at After You


After You is a very popular dessert shop that always has a long queue during peak hours. We ordered the Chocolate Toast with Strawberry (THB215) which was very delicious and satisfying! Click here to see the full list of After You branches.

5pm – Chocolate Ville


Chocolate Ville is a gorgeous open-air complex designed like a charming European town. It is a 30-minute car ride from downtown Bangkok.

We saw many European-style architecture and whimsical structures here. It is truly a beautiful attraction with many Instagrammable spots.

The food menu here offers a dizzying variety of Thai food and international cuisine dishes. You can choose to dine anywhere in the complex, such as along the canal or in one of the beautiful buildings.

Directions: 30-minute car ride from downtown Bangkok (we took a THB300 Grab ride from Siam)

Day 3 – Old City


The Old City (Rattanakosin) is the historical and cultural centre of Bangkok, where you will find many beautiful temple complexes and glittering palaces.

7am – Breakfast at On Lok Yun


On Lok Yun is an old-school restaurant that serves fusion American-Thai breakfast dishes at very affordable prices. There is always a long queue of tourists outside the shop.

We had a very satisfying and sumptuous breakfast feast here! If you don’t mind walking a bit further from the MRT station, you can check out Kope Hya Tai Kee as well.

9am – The Grand Palace


The Grand Palace is the official residence of Thailand’s king. Built in 1782, this majestic palace is steeped in history and culture. Today, it is one of Bangkok’s most popular tourist attractions.

The wife and I are happy to have visited this gorgeous complex, but we only spent about one hour here because the hot weather and throngs of tourists were too overwhelming.

11am – Wat Pho (“Temple of the Reclining Buddha”)


Wat Pho is a famous Buddhist temple home to the 46-meter long reclining Buddha statue. It is a 10-minute walk from the Grand Palace.

1pm – Wat Arun


Wat Arun is another beautiful Buddhist temple complex located across the river from Wat Pho and The Grand Palace. Decorated with colourful spires and stands, it is arguably one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand.

3pm – IconSiam


After exploring the iconic Thai attractions, take a boat ride down the Chao Phraya River to IconSiam. This new mega mall is home to hundreds of shops, restaurants, a cinema, a riverside park, and even an indoor floating market (“SookSiam”)!

We enjoyed eating the affordable street food at SookSiam. The wife also had a good time browsing the many retail shops and luxury boutiques in the mall. At night, we caught the spectacular water fountain light show at the Riverside Park.

3pm – Lunch at Thipsamai (IconSiam)


Thipsamai is a very famous pad thai restaurant in Bangkok that has opened a new branch at IconSiam. We ordered the signature Superb Pad Thai (THB129), which consists of stir-fried noodles wrapped neatly in an egg omelette and paired with two prawns. It tasted AMAZING!

7pm – Asiatique


Asiatique The Riverfront is an open-air complex located along the Chao Phraya River. It is home to a night bazaar, independent boutiques, modern restaurants, and outdoor bars. We had a nice evening soaking up the  bustling atmosphere of this vibrant complex.

Day 4 – Sukhumvit


Sukhumvit is a large and diverse district where you will find an interesting mix of modern shopping malls, bars, nightclubs, red light districts, fine restaurants, street food, and quaint cafes.

10am – Breakfast at Roast


Roast is a popular cafe that serves a variety of Western-style dishes and brunch items. It is located on the top level of “The Commons”, a hip open-air shopping complex.

My favourite dish is the Truffle Alfredo (THB280), a delicious pasta dish that consists of homemade tagliatelle, long bacon slices, chunks of mushrooms and truffles of course.

This is one of our favourite cafes in Bangkok!

12pm – Let’s Relax Onsen and Spa Thonglor


Let’s Relax Onsen and Spa Thonglor is a Japanese-style onsen in Bangkok that also offers a variety of massage and spa treatments. An onsen day pass costs THB700.

I spent about one hour in the onsen and it was an amazing experience. Both my body and mind were in a complete state of relaxation afterwards!

5pm – Dinner at The Blooming Gallery


The Blooming Gallery is a beautiful floral themed cafe that serves a variety of Western main dishes and artisan desserts.

We ordered the signature dessert A Path in the Forest (THB380), which is a Matcha Mousse Soft Cheesecake that is served in a cool marble cup and eaten with a wooden spoon. The wife and I really enjoyed eating this sweet treat.

7pm – Sukhumvit Nightlife


Sukhumvit is famous for its bustling nightlife scene with many classy clubs and bars. The famous red-light districts of Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy are located here too.

Day 5 – Night Markets

10am – Breakfast at Victory Monument Boat Noodle Alley


There is an alley near Victory Monument that is home to many local restaurants serving boat noodles along the canal. “Boat Noodles” are basically bowls of bite-sized portions of noodles that usually cost below THB20 per bowl.

The wife and I always visit a restaurant called “Best of the Boat Noodle”, because the noodles here are really delicious and only cost THB12 per bowl! The restaurant is also really clean and service is quite good.

12pm – Chatuchak Weekend Market


Chatuchak Weekend Market is a popular Bangkok market with over 15,000 stalls. I saw a dizzying variety of things on sale here, such as clothes, home accessories, antiques, bags, shoes, electronic gadgets, and even pets!

It was fun to explore this vibrant market, but I perspired profusely in the scorching Bangkok weather. You can check out this map of Chatuchak Market if you are interested.

5pm – Ratchada Train Market


Ratchada Train Market (also known as Talad Rot Fai 2) is a hip night market located near Thailand Cultural Centre MRT station.

It has a carnival-like atmosphere with many interesting stalls, street food, and outdoor bars. I found that many of the items here were cheaper than other night markets, probably because many locals visit this market too.

Day 6 – Silom

The famous Sky Bar at Lebua State Tower Hotel is located in Silom

Silom is the central business district of Bangkok and does not have many tourist attractions. Instead, it is better known for its vibrant nightlife. Therefore it will be more suitable for tourists looking to party. There are also many LGBT clubs and bars in this area.

12pm – Lunch at Bai Yun


Bai Yun is a classy Chinese restaurant located on the 59th floor of Banyan Tree Bangkok Hotel, offering stunning views of the city. It is known for its sumptuous dim sum buffet.

The dim sums were generally quite delicious, and I enjoyed excellent ambience and good service as well. I bought the dim sum buffet deal from Klook at just THB900 (usual price THB1650).

3pm – Lumpini Park


Lumpini Park is a large urban park with an artificial lake, lush trees and playgrounds. There are even free aerobics sessions if you are interested.

6pm – Vertigo and Moon Bar


After your dim sum feast, you can end your Bangkok trip on a high by chilling out at the famous Vertigo and Moon Bar upstairs.

9pm – Patpong


Patpong is Bangkok’s famous red light district, home to a sprawl of neon-lit dodgy bars and suspicious massage parlours. This is definitely not the place to go with families or young children.
