Recently, you might have seen Hai Chi Jia Suan La Fen 嗨吃家酸辣粉 popping up all over your social media feed. I decided to check out this trending snack for myself and I’ve got to say it was worth the hype! Currently the most convenient way to get this suan la fen is to buy from NTUC FairPrice Finest branches (sold at $3.25 each). The cheapest place to buy is Ezbuy where you can get six cups for $8.90. Hai Chi Jia 嗨吃家

Hai Chi Jia 嗨吃家 is a convenience food company based in the Henan province of China. They specialise in instant noodles snacks.

Other than selling in China, the company also exports to many other countries like Italy, Russia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

Hai Chi Jia Suan La Fen 嗨吃家酸辣粉

The company’s signature product is the Hai Chi Jia Suan La Fen 嗨吃家酸辣粉, which translates to “Sour and Spicy Noodles”.

It comes in a smooth brown cardboard packaging, and has an expiration period of 10 months.

The ingredients are vermicelli noodles, dehydrated vegetables, seasoning, peanuts, chilli paste, vinegar and chilli oil.

The cooking instructions are very easy – just add in all the ingredients and noodles into the cup, pour in boiling water, cover with the lid, and let it cook for 4 to 5 minutes.

The mala broth was numbingly-spicy, savoury, vinegary, and extremely addictive. The tasty peanuts added crunch.

The vermicelli noodles were really smooth and had just the right amount of bite. It was so satisfying to slurp them up after they had absorbed all the goodness of the broth!

Personally, I did not find the noodles to be overly spicy, but that’s because I enjoy eating spicy food. You can add less chilli oil and paste if you wish.

The noodles is labelled as “清真”, which means that it is Halal. Therefore, Muslims can enjoy this great snack too.

According to the packaging, the ingredients do not include beef.

And in case you’re wondering, the man on the packaging is Bobby Yip, a well-known veteran Hong Kong actor.

2. Local Resellers – It is also possible to buy from Ezbuy, Lazada, Shopee, Qoo10, and Carousell, but you will have to pay more due to the middleman fee.
