Chengdu Bowl – Gorgeous And Delicious Chinese Rice Bowls, Islandwide Delivery Available

Chengdu Restaurant 成都川菜馆 is an elegant Chinese restaurant along Amoy Street that serves authentic Sichuan cuisine. In light of the Circuit Breaker (and Phase 1 Reopening), the restaurant has recently launched the gorgeous Chengdu Bowl for islandwide delivery. This is my review of the dish.

Chengdu Bowl

This new dish is basically a rice bowl that is similar to the popular Poke Bowl, but with a Chinese twist. I was especially impressed by their striking colours and presentation!

There are many tantalising flavours such as the US Beef Fragrant Pot 肥牛香锅, Classic Sour Fish Bowl 经典酸菜鱼, Chicken with Chilli Mala Bowl 成都辣子鸡, and Braised Pork Belly 最爱红烧肉.

The bowl comes in three sizes: Small ($10.60), Regular ($12.80) and Large ($14.90). I had the regular size bowl and the portion was just right for me. If you have a smaller appetite, go for the small size bowl.

How To Order

You can order from https://chengdubowl.ezqr.sg between 10am and 8pm daily. Islandwide delivery is available, minimum order of $20 applies. Delivery fee varies by distance, but it’s less than $6 for most places.

Chicken with Chilli Mala Bowl 成都辣子鸡

My favourite was the Chicken with Chilli Mala Bowl 成都辣子鸡.

The chicken was feisty-savoury and with good bite. It went really well with the moist and fluffy rice, which had a texture similar to Japanese sticky rice.

The rest of the “Sichuan side dishes” were surprisingly good too! The chewy mala-flavoured enoki mushroom was my favourite. The scrambled eggs, potato strips and edamame were also really fresh and delicious.

Overall, everything came together perfectly to form a vibrant, hearty and satisfying bowl.

Classic Sour Fish Bowl 经典酸菜鱼

I enjoyed the Classic Sour Fish Bowl 经典酸菜鱼 too. The fish was tender and had a pleasant spicy-tangy flavour.

Braised Pork Belly Bowl 最爱红烧肉

Order the Braised Pork Belly Bowl 最爱红烧肉 if you like indulging in fatty succulent braised pork belly.

Chilli Sauce

The complimentary tangy-spicy chilli sauce was perfect for eating with the rice bowl!

Conclusion

The Chengdu Bowls were really hearty and delicious! Presentation was great too. It’s impressive that Chengdu Restaurant has managed to come up with this awesome dish in such a short time.
