Pasta & More – Awesome Swiss Restaurant Specialising in Delicious Pastas Found in Wengen, Switzerland

It was a cold night in Wengen, Switzerland. The wife and I decided to get dinner at the Pasta & More Restaurant, located along the main street. As this was going to be our last dinner in Switzerland, I was hoping it would not disappoint.

Pasta & More

Located along the main street

Pasta & More is a Swiss restaurant in Wengen. It serves a variety of pasta dishes (hence its name), salads, international dishes, and classic Swiss specialties.

The restaurant is part of Hotel Victoria Lauberhorn and is located along the main street, just a few minutes’ walk away from Wengen train station.

Salads and soups

As expected, Pasta & More is best known for its pasta dishes. The Spaghetti Carbonara (CHF 21.50) is a classic pasta dish, served with roasted bacon and egg-cream sauce.

If you like tomato-based pasta, go for the Spaghetti Pasta & More (CHF 22.50), which comes with savoury roasted chicken.

International dishes include the Roasted Veal Steak (CHF 41.50) and Roasted Chicken Breast (CHF 28.50).

Vegetarians will be happy to know that there are plenty of tasty salad options.

For a classic Swiss specialty, you can order the Alpenfondue (CHF 26.50). This classic cheese fondue dish comes with fondue bread and baked potatoes.

There is also an impressive variety of desserts, teas, and wines. A popular dessert item is the homemade Apple Strudel with Vanilla Ice Cream (CHF 8.50).

Pasta & More has a separate lunch and dinner menu with slightly different items. You can click here to see both menus.

Pleasant Ambience and Good Service

Outdoor seating area with great view of the Swiss Alps

Great window seat view

Wanted to sit here but the area was closed off. Decided to take a photo instead.

Complimentary bread before the mains arrived

Happy with the good food and service

Pasta & More is a simple but charming space decorated with elegant wooden furnishings. The walls are lined with paintings and artistic photographs of skiers in the Alps.

There is an outdoor dining area which offers knockout views of the Swiss Alps. However, as it was too cold, the wife and I chose to eat indoors instead.

We wanted to sit by the window, but that area of the restaurant was closed off. So we had to sit at another table instead.

We visited Pasta & More on a Saturday night in April (low season), and there were less than ten guests in the restaurant. However, there was only one waitress and therefore she was kept quite busy.

Despite that, she was a very sweet lady who was extremely polite and patient. She was also quite attentive and came to check on us once or twice during the meal.

We were given a few complimentary slices of bread before the main dishes arrived, which was nice as we were quite hungry.

Fruit and Flower Tea

I was impressed by the variety of tea offered at Pasta & More. I decided to order a pot of Fruit and Flower Tea (CHF 5.20) while waiting for our mains to arrive.

This tea is composed using a mix of apple, carcade, rose leaves, linden blossom and cinnamon. After letting it brew in the teapot for a while, I poured out the tea.

I could immediately smell the rich floral fragrance. The tea had a very smooth texture, along with a lingering lightly-sweet flavour.

It felt really nice to chat with the wife while drinking this hot cup of fragrant tea in the cold Swiss weather.

Spaghetti Carbonara

Giant Pepper Mill

For my dish, I ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara (CHF 21.50). The spaghetti was doused in cream sauce, and topped with roasted bacon slices and some other garnishings.

The spaghetti was cooked al dente and had great bite. It went perfectly with the creamy sauce, which had a luscious texture and a rich savoury-sweet flavour that was not overwhelming.

The crispy bacon slices added variety and ensured that my palate was not bored.

Halfway through the meal, I requested for some pepper. I did a double take when the waitress returned with a giant pepper mill. It was huge! Probably the biggest pepper grinder I’ve ever seen.

On the whole, this was a very well-balanced pasta dish that I enjoyed very much. Remember to ask for some pepper to see the pepper mill in action.

Roasted Chicken Breast

The wife went for the Roasted Chicken Breast (CHF 28.50). This came with rosti, roasted bacon slices, and a variety of steamed vegetables like potatoes, carrots and broccolis.

Even though the meat looked tough, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was actually quite juicy and tender.

The savoury rosti and roasted bacon served as great sides, and the fresh vegetables provided balance.

If you are not a pasta fan, then I recommend getting this dish instead.

Conclusion

The wife and I had a very pleasant dining experience at Pasta & More in Wengen. This lovely Swiss restaurant offered great ambience, good service, and delicious food. It is also conveniently located along the main street which made it easy for us to find. It was our last night in Switzerland and eating here was the perfect way to cap off our Swiss experience.

On the downside, the prices are quite high (did I mention a flask of water costs CHF 3.50?), but food in Switzerland is generally very expensive. If you are visiting during peak season, you should call to make reservations to avoid disappointment.
