Läderach Chocolatier Suisse – Chocolate Boutique Sells Top-Quality Swiss Chocolates, At Jewel Changi

I was strolling around Jewel Changi Airport recently when I spotted the elegant shopfront of Läderach Chocolatier Suisse, which is a luxury Swiss chocolate brand. I had heard their chocolates are really good so I decided to pop in to take a look.

Läderach Chocolatier Suisse sells premium artisanal chocolates that are 100% made in Switzerland.

They are best known for their signature “FrischSchoggi” chocolate, which are sold as chunks broken off from large slabs of tantalising chocolates.

Läderach was founded over 50 years ago in 1962 by chocolatier Rudolf Läderach Jr. Today, the company is run by the 3rd generation Läderach family.

One of the heirs, Elias Läderach, even won the World Chocolate Masters 2018 competition in Paris.

In 2019, the Läderach group started expanding overseas, opening branches in USA, Canada, and UK. In April of the same year, they opened their first Singapore branch at Jewel Changi Airport, followed by a second branch at Takashimaya B2 Food Hall in October.

The Läderach chocolate boutique at Jewel is an elegant monochrome-themed space lined with shelves of exquisite chocolates.

Stepping into the shop, I was greeted by a glass counter showcasing dozens of mouthwatering FrischSchoggi. It was hard not to salivate while looking at these large slabs of chocolates!

Other than FrischSchoggi, they also sell a variety of pralines and truffles, which are displayed beautifully in a glass counter at the back of the boutique.

Incidentally, truffle was one of the first chocolate products the company sold. In fact, it was Rudolf Läderach Jr. who patented a revolutionary process in 1970 to manufacture thin-walled hollow balls for truffles.

As it was my first time visiting, I appreciated the friendly staff who patiently explained to me about the Läderach Chocolatier Suisse brand and the characteristics of the respective FrischSchoggi flavours.

Menu

The FrischSchoggi (all flavours) are sold at $19.90 per 100grams. It’s recommended that you get a minimum of 50 to 80 grams per flavour, depending on the type of chocolate you choose (for example some flavours contain nuts so they weigh heavier).

You can also buy the FrischSchoggi in pre-packed packages, with the weight ranging from a 250g Gift Pack ($52.50), to a 330g Swiss Tin ($77.60), to a 1kg Läderach Crate ($216).

Some of the popular FrischSchoggi flavours include the Florentine Dark, Raspberry Blackberry White, Hazelnut Milk, and Hazelnut Dark.

The pralines and truffles start from $16.50 for 4 pieces (45g).

Hazelnut Dark

After browsing through the FrischSchoggi flavours, I decided to get the Hazelnut Dark (~50g). The staff broke off one chunk from the slab, weighed it, and wrapped it in a nifty transparent plastic holder.

This flavour consists of roasted caramelised Piedmont hazelnuts encased in Swiss dark chocolate.

The chocolate had a wonderfully smooth texture and a luxurious mouthfeel, with the rich fragrance of bittersweet cocoa punctuated by the crunch of musky-sweet hazelnuts.

Raspberry Blackberry White

I also tried the Raspberry Blackberry White (~50g), which consists of crushed raspberries and fruity blackberry pieces mixed with Swiss white chocolate.

This was another delicious treat!

The creamy and luscious white chocolate was complemented by the sweet scents of raspberries, while the chewy bits of blackberries added bursts of sharp-fruitiness.

Conclusion

Läderach Chocolatier Suisse is a well-loved Swiss chocolate brand that has gained many loyal supporters over the years. In fact, I was walking down the street when a passerby saw my Läderach paper bag and said, “These chocolates are delicious; they are from my country Switzerland! (sic)”

The price tags may seem hefty, but they are reasonable considering that these are top-quality Swiss chocolates. They are perfect for the occasional indulgence, or as gifts for your loved ones.
