Panpuri Wellness (Bangkok) – A Complete Guide To This Super Luxurious Onsen And Spa

Our recent Bangkok trip was akin to a spa getaway, because the wife and I went on massages and spa treatments almost every other day. After a wonderful onsen and spa experience at Let’s Relax Onsen and Spa, we went on to check out the luxurious Panpuri Wellness the very next day.

Panpuri Wellness

Panpuri Wellness is a modern and luxurious onsen in Bangkok that also offers a selection of spa treatments and fitness programmes.

This urban spa is located on the 12th floor of Gaysorn Village, a modern shopping complex that is a six-minute walk from Chit Lom BTS Station.

It is a subsidiary of Panpuri, a global wellness company that sells a range of skincare, personal care, beauty, and aromatherapy products.

Panpuri Wellness Onsen and Treatments

The highlight of Panpuri Wellness is their public onsen, which costs THB750 for an all-day pass. However, it is strongly recommended that you take a break every hour or so to let your body cool down.

Other than the onsen, Panpuri Wellness also offers a variety of spa treatments like body massages, foot massages, body scrubs and facial treatments.

To join the free fitness programmes (HIIT, Taichi, Yogilates, Piloxing, Hatha Yoga), you need to sign up for one of their “Wellness Programs” (the cheapest is a THB4500 one-day programme).

Compared to other spas in Bangkok, the prices here are quite expensive. To give you an idea, a 60 minutes “Royal Thai Massage” costs THB2,100, while a 3-hour “Panpuri Signature Pure Relaxation Ritual” that features private onsen, body scrub, foot massage and body massage will set you back THB5,800.

You can click here to see the full list of treatments and prices.

Make sure you buy from Klook because the prices are cheaper. On Klook, the onsen access costs just THB650 (instead of THB750). Klook also offers onsen and spa packages that are cheaper by around 10%.

I seldom splurge on such luxurious experiences, but the lovely wife decided to treat me to a couple spa package for my birthday.

Classy Lobby

On the day of our appointment, the wife and I made our way to Gaysorn Village and took the lift to the 12th floor.

Entering the classy lobby, it felt like we had been whisked away from the rush of the shopping belt below and transported to a serene oasis that boasts minimalist furnishings, marble walls, and a knockout view of Bangkok’s skyline.

I saw several Jinbei-clad guests in the lobby chilling out or working on laptops. I thought it was pretty nice that they could relax here after soaking in the onsen pools.

After keeping our footwear in the fancy lockers and changing into bamboo slippers, we were led by a friendly Panpuri staff to sit on a plush sofa seat in the lobby, and served with refreshing ginger-honey-lime drinks.

Pre-Consultation

Essential oil and scrub samples

Welcome gifts

Before starting the spa treatments, the wife and I went through a short consultation with the staff who asked for our massage pressure preference, skin type, medical history, etc.

We were also given free Panpuri toiletries, which was a nice gesture.

After that, the staff passed us scrub and essential oil samples to choose for our spa treatment.

I think one aspect that Panpuri Wellness can look into is including printed descriptions for each of the scrubs and essential oils, instead of just giving verbal explanations. Let’s Relax does this and it helped to make our decisions easier.

Panpuri Signature Pure Relaxation Ritual (Couple)

Heated massage beds!

The masseuses washed our legs with salt-infused waters

Big closet with safe to keep our stuff

Private bathroom

Had to take a picture of this high-tech toilet bowl with electronic bidet

Luxurious rain shower

Plenty of towels and disposable undies

The wife and I went for the Panpuri Signature Pure Relaxation Ritual couple package, which costs THB9,900. It consists of the below treatments:

  • 30 minutes Private Onsen
  • 30 minutes Organic Body Polish
  • 90 minutes Panpuri Signature Massage
  • 30 minutes Foot Massage

Luxurious? Yes. Expensive? Definitely.

From the lobby, we were led to the “Tranquility Suite”, a lavish room featuring a private onsen, two massage beds, two sofa chairs, a closet with safe, and a spacious bathroom.

After changing into the plush Panpuri robes and disposable undies, it was time to begin our three-hour spa experience!

We were served by two very friendly and polite Thai female masseuses who began the session by washing our feet with salt-infused water.

Towels and ice-cold bottled water were conveniently placed around onsen

After that, the masseuses left the suite and we were given thirty minutes to soak in the private onsen.

It felt wonderful to soak in the onsen pool with the wife in the privacy of our own suite, while enjoying the awesome views of Bangkok’s skyline. I also liked that there were towels and ice-cold bottled waters placed around the pool for our convenience.

I saw a button on the ledge and thought it was to activate the whirlpool. Against the wife’s advice, I pressed it and to my shock we heard the water draining away. I quickly pressed it again to stop the outflow while avoiding the wife’s glare.

One minor qualm I had, was that the 30 minutes onsen time included the time for washing up. And we had to take turns washing up since there was only one bathroom.

The next part of our spa package was the 30 minutes Organic Body Polish, which are full body scrubs. The masseuses used the scrub recipes we had selected earlier. It was a very relaxing experience and I almost fell asleep halfway.

Lying down on the massage bed, I realised to my surprise that it was heated. This was definitely a nice feature, though it got slightly too warm after a while and I had to ask the masseuse to remove my blanket.

After the scrub, we cleaned up for the 90 minutes Panpuri Signature Massage. According to the Panpuri website, this massage combines elements of “ancient Eastern techniques of acupressure”, Thai massage, and Swedish massage. There is also an aromatherapy oil massage included.

The first portion was the full body massage. I had earlier indicated my preferred pressure as “Strong”, and the masseuse used long and strong flowing strokes to ease away the aches on my body.

The wife’s masseuse didn’t really use much strength in her strokes, perhaps because she had chosen “Medium” pressure. It was only after she asked the masseuse to use more strength that she started enjoying the massage more.

The wife and I both enjoyed the aromatherapy oil massage, where the masseuses used the essential oils we had chosen earlier to give us a full body rub-down. It was a super relaxing and therapeutic experience.

After 90 minutes, it was time for the final portion of our spa package: the 30 minutes foot massage. Interestingly, this massage was given while we were lying down.

The masseuse used less strength than other Thai foot massages I’ve experienced, but I could definitely still feel the aches on my foot being eased away. The wife and I have had many foot massages before, and we found this to be one of our favourite sessions.

After the massage, we were informed by the masseuses that we should only wash away the essential oils on our bodies after a few hours.

Post-Spa Treats

After the wonderful three-hour spa treatment, we were led to the lobby where we were served organic rice tea and fruits. This was a nice touch, but compared to the treats provided by Let’s Relax, this paled in comparison a little.

There is also a “Wellness Bar” in the lobby that sells organic food and drinks (all under 600 calories). We didn’t buy the food because it was slightly too healthy for us.

Panpuri Wellness Shop

The wife browsed around the small shop in the lobby for a while, where a staff patiently attended to her. There was a small selection of body care and aromatherapy products on sale.

Public Onsen

Unfortunately, we did not get to check out Panpuri Wellness’ famous public onsen.

The gender-separated onsen features five onsen pools, with the signature “Kusatsu” pool containing natural spring water sourced from Japan. There is also a relaxation lounge, Himalayan salt sauna, and hot steam room.

Males are required to remove all garments, but women are provided with disposable undies and tank tops. This is good for ladies who are shy about going commando.

Guests get to enjoy great views of the city through the large glass windows while soaking in the onsen pools.

How To Book

Email confirmation of my booking

1. Buy your onsen day pass or onsen spa package from Klook because it is cheaper. Unfortunately our preferred package was not available on Klook so we bought directly from the website.

2. You will receive an email confirmation from Panpuri Wellness shortly.

Conclusion

Indulging in the lovely couple spa package at Panpuri Wellness was a wonderful way to spend my birthday. It was a special experience, consisting of many luxurious touches like the pre-spa consultation, elegant lobby, lavish private suite, free Panpuri products, and overall great service. However, it also came with a very expensive price tag. If you do not care for these supplementary perks, I would suggest checking out Let’s Relax Onsen and Spa Thonglor instead, which offers much of the same services but at a significantly lower price. As for the onsen access, the price difference between Panpuri Wellness and Let’s Relax is just THB100, so both are good options.
