How To Get To Mürrenbach Falls in Switzerland

In this article, I will be showing you how to get to Mürrenbach Falls. This is one of the highest waterfalls in Switzerland, cascading downwards in five sections from an incredible height of 417 metres. Below are the four ways to get to this waterfall.

Mürrenbach Falls

Method 1: Take Bus From Lauterbrunnen

From Lauterbrunnen station, you can take Bus 141 for 8 stops to the Stechelberg gondola station (Stechelberg Schilthornbahn). The bus ride will take around 12 minutes. It costs CHF 2.20 with the Swiss Half Fare Card (original price CHF 4.40). The ride is free if you have the Swiss Travel Pass.

You will get a good view of the Mürrenbach Falls from the Stechelberg gondola station. If you wish, you can walk closer to the falls to get a closer look.

Method 2: Hike From Lauterbrunnen

From Lauterbrunnen, you can hike for about 5km to the Stechelberg gondola station (Stechelberg Schilthornbahn). It will take around one hour.

This is an easy flat hike that offers great views of the valley’s majestic rock faces. Along the way, you will also pass by the famous Staubbach Falls and Trümmelbach Falls.

Method 3: Take Gondola From Mürren

It is also possible to get to the Mürrenbach Falls from the Swiss village of Mürren.

From Mürren gondola station (Mürren Schilthornbahn), take a gondola to Stechelberg gondola station (Stechelberg Schilthornbahn). Note that the gondola will stop at Gimmelwald along the way.

The ride will take around 10 minutes. It costs CHF 5.60 with the Swiss Half Fare Card (original price CHF 11.20). The ride is free if you have the Swiss Travel Pass.

You will get to see the beautiful Mürrenbach Falls during the gondola ride. Once you reach Stechelberg gondola station, you will also enjoy a good view of the falls.

Method 4: Hike from Mürren

From Mürren, you can hike downhill for about 8km to Stechelberg gondola station (Stechelberg Schilthornbahn), passing by Gimmelwald along the way. The hike will take about four hours.

The first portion of the hike from Mürren to Gimmelwald is an easy route that consists mainly of concrete pavements. It is 2km long and will only take 45 minutes to complete.

The second portion of the hike from Gimmelwald to Stechelberg is of moderate difficulty. There are some steep sections that can be challenging for novice hikers.

Therefore, I recommend hiking from Mürren to Gimmelwald, and then taking the gondola down to Stechelberg.

From Stechelberg, you will get to see the beautiful Mürrenbach Falls.
