How To Get To Victoria Peak Hong Kong – The Ultimate Guide To Going Up This Beautiful Hill!

There are several ways to get to beautiful Victoria Peak in Hong Kong. Taking the Peak Tram is the best and most convenient method. We used this method ourselves and it was a great experience. However, if you prefer convenience you can check out this van transfer which will bring you directly to Victoria Peak fuss-free. We have also listed down all other methods of getting to Victoria Peak below for your reference.

Method 1. The Peak Tram

Great views along the way

As mentioned, taking the Peak Tram is the best way to reach the peak.

First, we *walked to the Peak Tram Lower Terminus from Exit J2 of Central MTR Station. It took around 10 minutes. Click here for the exact directions.

From the Peak Tram Lower Terminus, we took the tram uphill and it was a really fun ride! We got to enjoy awesome views along the way.

*If you wish, you can also take bus 15C from the Central Bus Terminus to go to the Peak Tram Lower Terminus. This is an open-top double decker bus. Adult fares cost HKD4.40, Child fares cost HKD2.20. The bus runs daily between 10am and 11.40pm. The bus ride takes about 11 minutes.

Operating Hours
The Peak Tram runs daily from 7am to 12am, including Public Holidays.

Duration
The tram journey time is about 8 minutes.

Cost
Adult return / single tickets cost HKD52 / HKD37. Child return / single tickets cost HKD23 / HKD14. Click here to buy tickets online from the official ticketing office.

However, I strongly recommend buying the Klook Peak Tram tickets, which will let you bypass the queue and collect your tickets directly at the counter. This is extremely useful because the queueing time is around one hour or more during peak hours. However, note that there is no line jump for the way down.

Method 2: Public Bus

Taking the public bus is another common way to go uphill. However, take note that it can be quite a scary ride because the buses are known to speed along the winding roads up the steep hill. Remember to buckle up your seat belts!

First, take the MTR to Central Station. Go out from Exit A, and cross the bridge to go to the Central Bus Terminus.

From the Bus Terminus, board bus 15. Get down at the last stop, which is Victoria Peak.

For the best views, go up to the upper deck and sit on the left front row seats.

Operating Hours
Take note that the bus runs daily in the morning only between 6.15am and 9.48am.

Duration
The bus ride will take around 40 to 60 minutes.

Cost
The fare is HKD10.30 for adults and HKD5.20 for children or seniors. You can pay with your Octopus Card. If you are using cash, note that no change will be given.

Method 3: Taxi

Taking a taxi is a fast way to get to Victoria Peak. The ride will take around 20 minutes (more if there are traffic jams or road works), and costs about HKD100.

Method 4: Van Transfer

If you prefer convenience or are travelling with young children, you can book a van transfer. The spacious Toyota Alphard will pick you up directly from your hotel and ferry you to Victoria Peak. The company also provides private transport to Hong Kong Disneyland, Ocean Park and Lantau Island.

Method 5: Walking

Last but not least, it is also possible to walk uphill to Victoria Peak.

Old Peak Road is a long winding trail that starts from the business district of Central and spirals up to The Peak.

This is an uphill 1.2km steep hike on tarmac that will take around 45 to 60 minutes. The trail consists mostly of trees and thick undergrowth, with little aerial views.

This is a relatively easy hike, but the trail is quite steep. Remember to carry along water because there are no refreshment stalls along the way.
