Yuan Xi Wedding & Gifts – One Of The Best Places to Buy Guo Da Li Gifts in Singapore

Every Chinese couple in Singapore knows that they need to buy and exchange Guo Da Li (Betrothal) gifts before their actual wedding day. Evan and I exchanged the gifts about one month before our wedding. Out of the many wedding gift shops we visited, Yuan Xi Wedding & Gifts at Chinatown Complex offers the best prices by far. The lady boss provided great service too.

Other Wedding Gift Shops

Based on our research online, we visited many Guo Da Li shops in Chinatown, heartland shophouses, and shopping malls.

However, we found most of the wedding items in these shops to be overpriced. And many of them offered expensive “Guo Da Li packages” that cost at least a few hundred dollars.

Luckily, we stumbled upon Yuan Xi Wedding & Gifts when we were walking around Chinatown Complex.

As we browsed around the cozy shop, we were taken aback by how affordable the items were – the wedding gifts here were about 20 to 50 percent cheaper than all the other shops we had visited! And most of the items were similar or even identical.

The concept of “Imperfect Market” in Econs 101 immediately came to mind – this was a textbook example.

The lady boss of Yuan Xi was very knowledgeable and helpful. She answered all our questions patiently even though there were many other customers in the shop. However, she didn’t budge at all when we tried asking for a discount – not that it mattered because all the items were already very affordable.

Yuan Xi also sells dowry and An Chuang items. We visited the Yuan Xi branch at #01-077 in Chinatown Complex. It has another branch at #01-096, located just nearby.

Above are some of the wedding items Evan and I bought from Yuan Xi Wedding & Gifts. All of them were significantly cheaper than what the other wedding shops offered.

Conclusion

We are glad to have stumbled upon this awesome Guo Da Li shop that offers such reasonable prices. We have read that it is also possible to get affordable wedding items from Taobao and shops in JB. However, we did not have time to explore these options. Compared to most other wedding gift shops in Singapore, Yuan Xi Wedding & Gifts definitely offers the best prices.
