Curious Palette @ Dhoby Ghaut (Prinsep Street)

There are so many new cafes in Singapore nowadays, and recently we chanced upon another nice cozy cafe along Prinsep Street: Curious Palette. The cafe is a five-minute walk from Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station, and offers a tantalizing variety of Western foods and desserts.

Industrial-Themed Design

We were most impressed by the design of the restaurant as we stepped in. Curious Palette offers an industrial-themed space that’s juxtaposed with modern design elements, where you can hang out with friends in a casual and convivial atmosphere.

Berries Ricotta Hotcake ($18.90)

We were going for our steamboat dinner at Shang Pin Hot Pot later, so we decided to go with just the Berry Ricotta Hotcake ($18.90). Wow this seems really familiar.. oh yes it has exactly the same name as the Berry Ricotta Hotcake at Strangers’ Reunion, with an identical price too. We have tried the one at Stranger’s Reunion’s before, and we are curious to see how Curious Palette’s one fares.

After taking a few shots of the pretty dish, we dug in eagerly.

The dish did not disappoint. The hotcake was soft and fluffy, and tasted sinfully sweet with the honey syrup. The guilt of eating such a sinful treat was (somewhat) mitigated by the fresh blueberries and strawberries on the hotcake. On the whole, this is definitely a dish worth trying, but it does get slightly jelak (overly-rich) about halfway through. Therefore I would recommend sharing this with at least one or two friends. I don’t think it’s possible for one person alone to finish Curious Palette’s entire Berry Ricotta Hotcake!

Cozy Cafe with Great Atmosphere

We left Curious Palette after a short while and made our way to more gluttony at Shang Pin Hot Pot. We regret a little not trying the rest of the food on the menu, but we will definitely go back to chill out in the cozy space soon.
