Four Best Places to Eat in Montreal (Canada) for First Time Visitors
Montreal is a French-speaking city known for its European flair, awesome festivals and vibrant art scene. And of course, we found lots of delicious food here as well. Below are our four favourite places to eat in Montreal. Out of the four eateries, three are located in Old Montreal. Only Beauty’s Luncheonette is located in Le Plateau Mont-Royal. This list should be useful if you are visiting Montreal for the first time!
Le Plateau-Mont-Royal
1. Beauty’s Luncheonette
Beauty’s Luncheonette is an old school diner in Montreal that serves delicious Eastern European comfort food. It has been around since 1942! We had the Superbeautys 2 ($13), which comprised two eggs, pancakes, bacon and sausages, fries and bagel. This was very delicious, especially the pancakes which tasted wonderful with the sweet maple syrup. It is no wonder that this classic diner is so popular with the Montreal locals.

2. Olive & Gourmando
Olive & Gourmando is a popular cafe known for its delicious croissants, paninis, sandwiches, salads, and brunch items. We ordered the Le Gustavo ($11.95), a seasonal panini made with grilled chicken breast, portobello mushrooms, and sautéed red onions covered with balsamic vinegar and melted cheese. After taking my first bite, I could understand why this cafe was so popular with the locals. The various ingredients in the panini came together perfectly for a harmony of delicious flavours in my mouth. I finished the entire sandwich in a hurry. Read our full review of Olive & Gourmando.

4. L’Usine de Spaghetti
L’Usine de Spaghetti is a charming Italian restaurant that serves homely Italian food in a cozy tavern-like space. It also has a free flow salad bar. Raevian and I shared the Le Grand Feu ($17), which is spaghetti with tomato sauce, paired with chicken parmesan and mozzarella, along with fresh tomatoes and basil toppings. This sumptuous dish was delicious! We really liked the al dente pasta, and the savoury chicken parmesan was done perfectly. This is a great place to enjoy delicious Italian food in a wonderful ambience.
