Thai Odyssey (Johor Bahru) – Wonderful Traditional Thai Massage at KSL City Mall

The wife and I both enjoy going for massages, so we booked a couple Thai Massage session with Thai Odyssey in KSL City Mall during our day trip to Johor Bahru recently.

Thai Odyssey (KSL City Mall)

Thai Odyssey is a massage chain empire founded in Malaysia. It has plenty of outlets across Malaysia, along with overseas branches in Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, and China.

I had read many positive online reviews about Thai Odyssey, therefore I decided to book a 90-minute Thai massage at the KSL City Mall branch with the wife.

Other Johor Bahru branches include Aeon Mall Bukit Indah, Aeon Mall Tebrau City, City Square, Paradigm Mall, and more.

Elegant and Tranquil Ambience

Waiting area

I was impressed by the elegant and tranquil ambience of the Thai-style massage parlour. It had a very relaxing atmosphere that made guests feel at ease immediately.

The KSL branch is quite large with many rooms and massage chairs inside. We had our massage in a private couple room, but there are also many massage beds which are separated by curtains only.

Feet Washing

Bath salt for washing feet

After registering at the counter, we were led by a friendly staff to a private area where we changed into bamboo sandals.

After that, the masseuses washed our feet with bath salt in beautiful basins while we sat on comfy chairs.

This was definitely a great start to our massage.

90 Minute Traditional Thai Massage

The wife and I both had a 90-minute Traditional Thai Massage (RM146.30) inside a clean and cozy couple room that offered complete privacy.

Before the start of the massage, we were given hot towels and ginger tea, which was a nice touch. After that, we changed into the loose fitting massage attire provided.

My masseuse was really good at rubbing my aching muscles; it almost felt as good as my massages in Bangkok.

In fact, it felt so good that I fell asleep after a while. The wife later told me that the masseuses were giggling because I was snoring pretty loudly.

Oops.

In comparison, the wife’s masseuse was quite sloppy; it was only after the wife requested for her to use more strength that she started to use more force in her strokes.

How to Book

Email confirmation from Thai Odyssey

1. First I went to the Thai Odyssey reservations page to make my booking. I also requested for a couple room.

2. A few hours later, Thai Odyssey sent me an email. My requested time was not available so they suggested another timing instead.

3. I replied to confirm the new timing and they acknowledged my confirmation about one hour later.

I strongly suggest making reservations a few days in advance because the Thai Odyssey KSL branch is extremely popular. I tried booking for a Saturday 3pm slot two days in advance but was given a 12pm slot instead because it was fully booked for the rest of the day.

Price Comparison with Singapore

Massage Parlour 1 Hour Body Massage 1 Hour Foot Massage
Thai Odyssey (Malaysia) $41 (RM125.10) $27 (RM82.70)
Healing Touch (Singapore) $58.85
Imperial Spa (Singapore) $69 $53
Natureland (Singapore) $69.55 (non-member) $54.57 (non-member)
Sabaai Sabaai (Singapore) $75 $60

Conclusion

On the whole, I had a wonderful massage experience at the Thai Odyssey KSL branch. The wife’s masseuse wasn’t as good, but she wasn’t exactly terrible either. Even though there are plenty of other massage parlours with cheaper rates in KSL City Mall, most of them have pretty bad online reviews. Therefore, we decided to just go with Thai Odyssey. In addition, all the therapists here are females, which made us feel more at ease. The price is not super cheap, but it is still significantly cheaper than Singapore massage parlours. You can refer to my table above for comparison.
