The St. Regis Bangkok – Our Amazing Experience At This Luxury 5 Star Hotel

The wife and I stayed at The St. Regis Bangkok during our recent holiday in Bangkok. This was our second stay here, because we had a wonderful experience the first time round. Therefore, we came with high expectations, and I’m glad that St Regis did not disappoint. Below is my full review of this awesome hotel.

The St. Regis Bangkok

Linkway to BTS Station

The St. Regis Bangkok is a luxury 5-star hotel in Bangkok.

It offers spacious and luxurious rooms, a well-equipped gym, a beautiful rooftop pool, great restaurants and bars, and wonderful spa facilities.

The hotel is directly connected to the Ratchadamri BTS Station, which is just one stop away from Siam BTS Station.

Excellent Service And Hospitality

Welcome drinks and refreshing towels during check in

From the moment we entered St Regis Bangkok, we experienced top-notch service and hospitality.

After walking through the enclosed linkway between the BTS Station and the hotel, a polite St Regis doorman opened the door for us.

From the lift lobby, we took the lift to the 12th floor for our check in.

Unlike many other hotels where we had to stand during the check-in process, at St Regis Bangkok we got to sit at a table comfortably and were served with refreshing towels and welcome drinks.

A very friendly St Regis staff processed our check-in while chatting with us at the same time. Even though it was just small talk, her friendly attitude made the wife and I feel at ease and welcome.

After that, she escorted us all the way up to our room.

The hotel provides a “butler service” for guests. No, that doesn’t mean there was a smartly-dressed personal attendant in our room attending to our needs. Instead, there is a St Regis “butler” for every floor of the hotel.

A short while after we had checked into our room, the butler came and introduced herself. She politely informed us that we could use the room phone to contact her whenever we required her services.

And she wasn’t just paying lip service.

Whenever we requested for more toiletries (the wife uses plenty of shampoo) or bottled water (I drink plenty of water), she would deliver the items to our room promptly.

There was once we asked for some ice at around midnight, and the night shift butler delivered the items to our room quickly too.

Room service was fantastic as well. Whenever we returned to the hotel at the end of the day, our room would be in perfect condition again with all dirty towels replaced, new bottled waters placed conveniently around the room, tea bags replaced, etc. There was not a single time when anything was missed out.

I was celebrating my birthday in Bangkok this time round and the wife had arranged for the hotel to set up a surprise birthday treat in our room.

On my birthday, we returned to our room at the end of the day to find a cake, chocolates, fruits, and a bouquet of roses nicely arranged on the glass table (all complimentary).

It was nice of the wife to prepare this surprise, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of the St Regis Bangkok staff of course.

Setting up a birthday surprise might seem like a simple task, but at some other hotels we had experienced walking in on the staff preparing, or the birthday cake being delivered at the wrong time. I’m not being fussy, but I think these mistakes defeated the purpose of a “surprise”.

Even when we were about to leave, we were still treated with the same wonderful hospitality that we had experienced throughout our stay.

After checking out, we went to the ground floor lobby with our luggage to wait for our Grab ride.

We were immediately approached by two super friendly hotel staff who helped to carry our luggage. One of them also offered to book a taxi to the airport for us.

When he found out that we had booked a Grab ride, he asked for the driver’s car plate number and told us that he would wait outside on our behalf and inform us once the car arrived.

I was impressed, to say the least. Well done, The St Regis Bangkok!

Lovely Luxurious Room

We loved our spacious and luxurious Grand Deluxe Guest room (1 King, Golf course view, City view), which is designed in hues of earthy tones and taupe accentuated with stylish furnishings.

The king size bed was plush and comfy, perfect for resting and recharging at night.

The large bathroom was a highlight too, with two basins and a big mirror so that the wife and I didn’t have to fight over washing up in the morning.

The rain shower pressure was fantastic and it felt wonderful to have a relaxing hot bath after a long day of exploring Bangkok.

The wife and I both enjoy drinking tea so it’s great that the room is stocked with premium TWG tea bags. For the coffee lovers there is an espresso machine too.

Sumptuous Breakfast Spread

Every day, we were treated to a sumptuous breakfast spread in the hotel, served at the VIU restaurant.

The international buffet spread offers a wide range of cuisines like Western food, Indian food, Chinese food, and more.

While walking around the buffet spread, we could see the kitchen chefs cooking in the open kitchen, which was pretty cool.

Love the noodles!

My favourite food station was the noodles station. The noodles were really savoury and delicious!

One of my favourites: Ricotta Hotcakes with Berries

But what really makes the hotel breakfast stand out is its complimentary a la carte breakfast menu.

The menu offers a variety of curated dishes such as Thai Omelet with Rice, Ricotta Hotcakes with Berries, Thai Style BBQ Pork Belly, Poached Chicken Rice, and more.

My favourite is probably the Ricotta Hotcakes with Berries. The hotcakes are fluffy and light, and taste great with the sweet maple syrup and fresh berries.

This supplementary a la carte menu ensured that we didn’t get bored of eating the same buffet breakfast items every day.

On the whole the breakfast service was good, and we were especially impressed by the senior restaurant staff (wearing black blazers) who were very polite and prompt.

However, on one of the days we encountered a junior staff who gave us a surly expression whenever we asked her to refill our tea. She also kept skipping our table when she was clearing tables.

Other than that single unpleasant encounter, our overall daily breakfast experience was great.

Well-Equipped Gym

St Regis Bangkok has a well-equipped gym. There is a decent selection of weight machines, treadmills, free weights, kettle bells, and various other exercise equipment.

There are Regis personal trainers who can provide you with fitness lessons (strength training, Thai Boxing, TRX, Kinesis) for THB1,400++ per hour.

I had fun posing in the mini boxing ring within the gym, which comes with boxing gloves. If I had come with guy friends I might have done some friendly sparring with them.

However, there are no gym rods for doing deadlifts, squats, etc. Therefore, the gym is definitely good enough for an average gym goer like me, but if you are a serious fitness buff you might find it lacking in certain equipment.

It was nice to enjoy the view of Bangkok’s skyline while running on the treadmill.

Beautiful Rooftop Pool

Playing with the hotel pool float

It was a special experience to swim in the hotel’s rooftop pool which overlooks an expansive golf course.

The wife and I also had fun frolicking in the small jet pool connected to the main pool.

Service at the pool was great as usual. Upon entering the pool premises, we were greeted by a friendly staff who led us to our lounge chairs and covered it with clean towels.

We were then served with ice cold fruit-infused water. A short while later, we were also served with ice chocolate drinks.

Nice.

Amazing Spa!

The main reason why I decided to stay at St Regis Bangkok for my birthday celebration is because of the amazing spa facilities at Elemis Spa!

We only went to the complimentary facilities (gender-separated), which consists of two hot and cold plunge pools, a steam room, a Rasul Room, and plush sofa beds.

The changing area is elegantly designed and has plenty of lockers for guests to keep their belongings. The ladies changing room even has tables with mirrors for applying make-up.

After keeping my clothes in the lockers, I went to the hot jet pool first, which has a temperature of around 38 degrees Celsius. It felt good to relax in the pool, while letting the jet streams massage my body.

After that, I forced myself to dip in the adjacent icy-cold pool, which has a temperature of around 17 degrees Celsius. I only managed to stay inside for a few minutes before scrambling out because it was simply too cold!

I dried myself and then cuddled up in one of the sofa beds. I liked the cozy enclosed design of the bed, which made me feel like I was resting in a cocoon.

There are two steam rooms in the spa. One of them is a typical steam room, which unfortunately was not in the best condition. It looked a little dirty with moulds growing at certain spots.

The Rasul Room was much better. This Arabian style room is covered with colourful mosaic tiles and I spent about 10 minutes relaxing inside.

In case you are interested, there is even a foot reflexology path in the spa. I tried walking on it for a while but couldn’t stand the pain.

BEST SHOWER ROOM EVER

Before leaving the spa, I took a long bath in the AMAZING cylindrical shower room, which consists of four overhead showers, three high showers, and three body jets.

It felt wonderful to bathe with all ten water outlets. Other than the water temperature, it is also possible to adjust the lighting, music, and water spray patterns.

I had lots of fun playing with the settings: blasting loud music, switching on colourful psychedelic lights, and selecting quirky spray patterns (the system termed it “massage”).

I will never look at showering the same way again.

We didn’t try any of the spa treatments at Elemis Spa because the prices were out of our budget. However, I managed to snap a photo of one of the luxurious treatment rooms while walking past.

Hotel Restaurants and Bars

Unfortunately, we did not manage to check out the hotel restaurants and bars, because we were too busy exploring the other wonderful eateries in Bangkok. Above are some pictures of them.

Conclusion

The St Regis Bangkok definitely ticks all the boxes for me. It offers amazing service, wonderful rooms, and top-notch amenities. We also found it really convenient to travel around because the hotel is connected directly to the Ratchadamri BTS station (only one stop away from Siam BTS).

This was the second time we stayed at this hotel, and it felt like the service was even better than during our first stay. Perhaps the hotel is upping it game because of competitive pressure from the new Waldorf Astoria Bangkok just down the road?

The hotel room rates are significantly more expensive than other Bangkok hotels of course, but for such an excellent hotel I was more than willing to pay the premium.
