Ritz Carlton Hong Kong Club Lounge – Indulge In Excellent Service, Fantastic Views, & Amazing Food

One of our favourite memories in Hong Kong was chilling out at The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong Club Lounge. This amazing executive lounge offers amazing views, impeccable service, delicious lounge bites, free flow alcohol, limousine service and more! This article was last updated on 13 May 2020.

The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong Club Lounge

The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong Club Lounge is widely acknowledged to be one of the top executive club lounges in the world.

It is located on the 116th floor of the hotel, at a whooping height of 465 metres.

We got to enjoy club lounge access because we were staying at the Deluxe Victoria Harbour Suite.

Club Lounge access is reserved for guests staying in the hotel suites or Club Level hotel rooms. You can check out the prices here.

The hotel allows you to invite your friends to the lounge, but they would have to pay HKD 380 per person (not including a 10% service charge).

The lounge is open 24 hours a day, but I think the staff knock off at 10.30pm. After that, we could still access the lounge using our key cards.

Normally we wouldn’t have spent so much on a hotel room, but we decided to splurge this time round because we were celebrating our 7th year anniversary.

Therefore, we booked ourselves a stay at the luxurious Ritz Carlton suite!

Personalised Check-In Service

On the first day of our hotel stay, we went to the ground floor of The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong and were greeted by a rather stoic hotel staff.

He escorted us to the lift and up to the 103rd floor for our check in. To be honest, his indifferent attitude made us feel a little like we were imposing on him.

We are in no way snobbish travellers, but having paid a premium to celebrate our anniversary at this 5-Star hotel, I guess we had pretty high expectations.

At the check-in counter on the 103rd floor, we were greeted by a friendly hotel staff who, after learning that we were staying at the suite, proceeded to lead us up to the Club Lounge on the 116th floor for our private check in.

It was from here on that our luxurious Club Lounge experience truly began.

Upon reaching the lounge, we were led to sit down on plush lounge chairs by the window. The views were amazing!

After collecting our passports, the affable female staff asked if we would like any drinks while she proceeded with our check in process.

We ordered two orange juices.

A short while later, our drinks were served by another friendly lounge staff who greeted us by name, which was a pleasant touch.

The staff was even nice enough to offer us the Club Lounge Light Lunch, even though we had not even checked into the hotel yet.

I didn’t want to disappoint her, so we happy obliged and enjoyed a nice meal in the lounge while waiting for our check in to be completed.

The Club Lounge staff definitely know how to nail a good first impression!

Fantastic Aerial Views

When we first stepped into the lounge, we were seriously amazed by how high up we were! The Ritz-Carlton quite literally towered over ALL other buildings in the city.

And of course, the views were simply to die for! No matter where we sat in the lounge, we got to enjoy unparalleled views of the Hong Kong skyline through the floor to ceiling windows.

Because the weather was quite clear on the day that we checked in, we enjoyed amazing gorgeous views of Victoria Bay and Hong Kong Central.

Classy Atmosphere

During our short stay at the The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, we really enjoyed chilling out at the Club Lounge.

The lounge exudes a stately charm with its leather chairs and elegant furnishings, complete with a luxurious carpeted floor. But at the same time, it also has a unpretentious and casual vibe which made us feel very much at ease.

And I really liked that no matter what time we went to the lounge, it was never crowded or noisy. Perhaps Ritz controls the total number of Club Level guests in the hotel at any one time.

The Club Lounge was especially chilled out at night. This is because the lounge has a policy where guests below 9 years old are only allowed in the lounge between 6.30 am and 8pm.

One of my most enjoyable experiences in the lounge was sitting by the window at night with a glass of champagne in hand, admiring the gorgeous city night lights while having a nice conversation with the wife.

Complimentary Snacks and Drinks

Complimentary drinks

The lounge is open 24 hours so we got to enjoy complimentary light snacks and drinks (tea, coffee, alcohol) throughout the day.

During the day, we could simply order our drinks from one of the many attentive staff in the lounge. I think I lost count of the number of glasses of champagne I ordered.

There was even an awesome wine dispenser where I enjoyed wine on tap. Besides using it for a few times in the day because of the novelty, I used this mostly at night when the Club Lounge staff had left for the day (around 10.30pm).

I also really liked that the Club Lounge serves premium TWG tea, which is my favourite brand of tea.

Food and Beverages Presentations

The Club Lounge also serves special “food and beverages presentations” at designated times during the day.

Mind you, these are not your run-of-the-mill tapas, tea and coffee spread. Rather, this was more like having a sumptuous high quality buffet throughout the day. The schedule is below:

  • Breakfast – 6.30am to 10.30am
  • Light lunch – 11.30am to 2pm
  • Afternoon tea – 3pm to 5pm
  • Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails – 5pm to 8pm
  • Desserts and cordials – 8.30pm to 10.30pm

Breakfast (6.30am to 10.30am)

Every morning, we would stroll into the lounge and settle down at a table by the window. The very cordial staff would then greet us by name and asked for our choice of drinks.

After that, we would head over to the breakfast area.

For me, I would go to the egg station first. I would get an omelette for myself and another two sunny side up eggs for the wife

After that, I would take my pick of the sumptuous breakfast spread!

The Club Lounge breakfast consisted of a variety of items such as pastries, fruits, yogurts, muesli and breads. I was super impressed by the large number of pastries available! My favourites were the strawberry and raspberry pastries, which were really tasty and fresh.

There were also the usual bacons, sausages, baked beans, smoked salmon, cold cuts and cheeses. I especially liked the smoked salmon and cold cuts, and must have eaten around a dozen slices during each breakfast.

The Asian dishes included fried noodles, dumplings, corns, and oysters vegetables. The wife and I normally pair our food with the fried noodles, which was quite savoury and delicious.

And of course, there were the usual milk and cereals.

It was a very special experience to have breakfast at the Club Lounge in Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong. We enjoyed delicious food, exemplary service, wonderful ambience, and kickass views. I can’t really think of a better way to start the day than that!

Light Lunch (11.30am to 2pm)

Light Lunch is really a misnomer because there was actually a really sumptuous spread of dishes for our selection.

I loved the variety of cutesy desserts on display! And they were really delicious too. Even though I normally eat desserts after meals, I took several of them to my table first, in case they ran out by the time I finished eating my mains (typical kiasu Singaporean).

And I was happy to see that the light lunch spread included the yummy smoked salmon too.

There was an impressive selection of Chinese dishes, including Stewed Vegetables with Dried Scallops, Sauteed Garoupa with Sweetcorn Sauce, Braised E-Fu Noodles with Mushrooms, and Rack of Lamb with Strawberry Sauce. I enjoyed eating the warm E-Fu noodles which were savoury and had nice bite.

I also saw an interesting variety of salads such as Mixed Seafood Salad, Duck Breast Salad, Green Papaya Salad, Waldorf Salad, Potato Ham Salad and Shrimp Salad.

To be honest, I are not really a fan of salad. However, I took some Shrimp Salad because the plump shrimps and glass noodles combination looked quite attractive. True enough, it was pretty delicious and I enjoyed this dish.

There were some turkey and cheese sandwiches too, along with a tasty winter melon soup which I really liked.

Afternoon Tea (3pm to 5pm)

If I had to choose one favourite meal at the Ritz Lounge, it would have to be the Afternoon Tea.

While other Hong Kong hotels / restaurants charge a hefty price for their afternoon tea sessions, we got to enjoy it for free at the Club Lounge.

We managed to try the Afternoon Tea once. We went to the lounge at close to 5pm and managed to make it just in time.

The staff helped to set up our table nicely and soon we were served with the pretty treats on a beautiful metal stand.

We ordered a pot of TWG chamomile tea to go along with the treats.

All the treats were fresh and tasty. My favourite was the Almond Cake and Cheese Canape, while the wife liked the Raisin Scones and Mixed Berry Cream Cup.

Sitting by the window to revel in the amazing views, while savouring the afternoon tea treats and aromatic TWG tea with the wife, was one of my favourite memories at The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong.

Hors d’oeuvres and Cocktails (5pm to 8pm)

The Hors d’oeuvres and Cocktails is another misnomer because it definitely offers more than just small bites.

On the night we went, the highlight was the Chef’s Special: Grilled Lamb Loin. The chef deftly sliced one chunk of lamb for me, and I must say it looked really tantalizing.

And taste-wise it was awesome too! It was really juicy, savoury and tender. There was no gamey odour at all.

I was delighted to see that there was again a wide selection of sweet desserts to choose from. I loved the Mango Coconut Tart, Mixed Berries Pana Cotta, and Pear Tart!

There was also a variety of main dishes such as Truffle Mashed Potatoes, Mixed Vegetable Noodle, Mixed Mushroom with Season Vegetable, Pan Fried Beef Sirloin, Assorted Clams with Soy Beans, and Minestrone Soup.

It’s an understatement to say that I was spoilt for choice.

In addition, I must compliment The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong for their effort in pleasing the health-conscious group. There was an impressive selection of innovative salads, such as Sea Urchin Salad, Apple and Crab Salad, Thai Beef Salad, and more.

Pairing my Sea Urchin Salad with a glass of champagne

I tried the Sea Urchin Salad, which the wife wasn’t very pleased about because she had heard about sea urchin poisoning fatalities.

Luckily, I lived to tell the tale. It had an interesting tangy flavour along with a jelly-like chewy texture. I can’t remember if I’ve eaten sea urchins before, so this was ticking one off the list.

There was also a variety of salad dressings (french dressing, honey mustard dressing, citrus dressing, balsamico dressing) for you to create your own salad.

There were fresh fruits too, which was helpful for digesting all the good food we had eaten in Hong Kong.

And I was happy to see that they served smoked salmon during this time too!

Desserts and Cordials (8.30pm to 10.30pm)

We went to the Club Lounge late one night for the Desserts and Cordials. I was happy to see that there was a delightful selection of sweet bites like chocolates, desserts, cookies, and fruits.

The highlight was of course the petite but luscious chocolate fondue, tempting me to indulge in its sinfulness. There were strawberries, marshmallows, watermelon, pineapple and ladyfingers biscuits to go along with the fondue. I especially enjoyed eating the watermelons with the fondue.

There was also a gorgeous metal stand delightfully adorned with macarons. These were quite delicious.

I ordered a chilled glass of Chardonnay to go with the sweet treats.

I had a wonderful night eating the sweet treats and drinking my wine while chatting with the wife. This was really the perfect way to end the day.

Pressing Service

Club Lounge guests are entitled to a complimentary one hour Pressing Service upon arrival, so the wife decided to press one of her dresses for her OOTD shot at Sheung Wan later.

We called guest services and a friendly hotel staff came to collect her dress shortly.

About 30 minutes later, the dress was pressed and delivered back to our suite! However, we were surprised to see a receipt. After checking with the Club Lounge staff, we were assured that the charge would be waived off.

Complimentary Limousine Service

Another thing we loved about the Club Lounge was the complimentary limousine service to areas within the vicinity!

We used this service twice, once to get to Canton Road and another time to get to Hong Kong Island Station.

This is a pretty useful service because the hotel is quite far from the MTR station.

It was quite easy to use the limousine service. We registered with the staff in the Club Lounge, then headed over to the hotel’s entrance at the designated time.

At the entrance, we informed the Ritz staff that we had a car booked. To my pleasant surprise, he hailed over a black sleek Mercedes Benz sedan for us.

Considering that this was a complimentary service, I was actually expecting a normal Japanese car.

The hotel bell boy then opened the door for us to go in.

The seats were really plush and comfortable. I saw two bottles of mineral water beside my seat, and sheepishly asked the driver:

“Hi, erm, are these waters complimentary?”

“Yes of course sir!” he replied genially, doing a perfect job of hiding his judgment and amusement.

We saw a cool black Tesla, which the hotel staff told us was part of the limousine fleet. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to book it. Ah well, first world problems!

We only used the limousine service twice because it is very popular. Therefore, you might want to book early in advance to secure the car.

Luxurious Washroom

I seldom gush over toilets, but I must say the Club Lounge has one awesome washroom. It was large and luxuriously decorated.

The washroom had great ventilation and (I know this might sound a little weird) a pleasant scent.

There was even a small dressing table and chair inside.

Work Station

There was a small work corner with two computers, one Mac and one Windows PC. I guess this is another thoughtful gesture by the hotel, so that guests can choose the platform they are more comfortable with.

We didn’t use the computers, but we did get to enjoy the strong WiFi in the Club Lounge. It worked perfectly and was super fast.

Impeccable Service

Personally, I felt that the most impressive factor of the Club Lounge was its impeccable service.

ALL the staff were amazing and made us feel wonderfully at ease whenever we visited the lounge.

We were greeted by name from the start, which was a nice touch and made us feel like valued guests.

Every time we were relaxing in the lounge, the staff were really attentive and always made sure that our glasses were filled. From time to time, they would also ask if we needed anything.

Therefore, I guess it’s not really my fault that I lost count of the number of glasses of champagne I drank.

When we came back to the lounge after a long day, the staff would always conversate with us in a very friendly and non-intrusive manner.

There was one particular conversation which left a deeper impression on me. Upon learning that we had just came back from indulging in The Drunken Pot, the lounge staff starting recommending us some popular hotpot joints in Hong Kong. She was even nice enough to print out an Openrice profile of her favourite hotpot restaurant for us!

Conclusion

Overall, we had a fantastic time at the The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong Club Lounge. The consistent service, attention to detail, breathtaking views, top-quality food, and delightful variety of sweet bites made this an amazing experience we will never forget.

I will probably not be splurging again on a Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong suite or a Club Level room anytime soon, so this was a special once-in-a-lifetime experience for us.

We stayed at the hotel in mid October 2018. Hopefully we’ll get to go back again some day!
