Residence Inn New York Downtown Manhattan / World Trade Center Area – Awesome Hotel in Wall Street New York

During our wonderful holiday in New York City, we stayed at the Residence Inn New York Downtown Manhattan / World Trade Center Area. This awesome value-for-money hotel offers stylish and comfortable rooms at very affordable rates. We enjoyed our four night stay here very much, and this is our full review of the hotel.

Residence Inn New York Downtown Manhattan / World Trade Center Area

Residence Inn New York Downtown Manhattan / World Trade Center Area (yes I know that’s quite a mouthful) is a Marriott hotel located in Downtown Manhattan. The hotel offers stylish rooms that come with a kitchenette. It also has a simple gym equipped with cardio machines, free weights and a bench; which were good enough for me to do a simple work out. We really liked that the WiFi strength was excellent throughout our stay. Our hotel booking included a daily continental breakfast buffet spread as well. Hotels in Manhattan New York are notoriously expensive but when we came across Residence Inn New York Downtown Manhattan, we realised that it was an affordable hotel that was also quite highly ranked on TripAdvisor.

Fantastic Location

What we liked most about Residence Inn New York Downtown Manhattan / World Trade Center Area was its fantastic location! It is located in the Wall Street district of Downtown Manhattan, just beside the Fulton St Subway Station which connects to all over New York. And it’s just minutes away by walking from plenty of Wall Street attractions such as the World Trade Center (where you can check out the One World Observatory), the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, the iconic Charging Bull and Fearless Girl Statue, the New York Stock Exchange, Stone Street Historic District, and many more! You can check out our full list of things to do in Wall Street.

Stylish Room with Many Amenities

We stayed for four nights in the Studio Suite, which was quite spacious at 270sqft. The room had a chic contemporary design with stylish touches. We liked the eye-catching back wall which had a beautiful floor-to-ceiling swirl art painting. Placed against the wall was the plush upholstered headboard and comfy king bed draped with clean white linens. There was a brightly-lit clock beside our bed which was not only fashionable but also served as a night light, and ensured that we would know what time it was at all times.

Our studio apartment style room was very well equipped with many amenities such as a coffee machine, flat screen TV with cable and movie channels, iron, ironing board, security safe and even a simple kitchen. We were super impressed by our kitchenette which had a small basin, tableware, cutlery, microwave, a full-sized refrigerator and even a dishwasher! It would have been even better if there was a stove. Finally, the bathroom was small but well-designed and very clean. The hotel provided complimentary toiletries too.

Awesome Breakfast Buffet

We enjoyed our daily breakfast buffet spread at the hotel’s lobby area, which was included in our booking. There was a great variety of delicious food such as bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, fruits, cereals, a selection of pastries (croissants, bagels and muffins), muesli, granola, yogurt, milk, nuts, berries, etc.

And I had fun with the waffle making machine, though I usually had to queue for at least ten minutes before it was my turn to make the hot waffles.

The breakfast staff were great and tried their best to give good service, though I could tell they were quite understaffed because they were constantly rushing about. It would be good if the hotel could deploy one or two more staff during the breakfast peak period. If you choose to stay at this hotel, make sure you go for breakfast early (it starts from 6.30am) because the seats are taken up very quickly. We managed to get seats for all days because it was just the two of us.

However, this is not a big problem because we saw many people taking food out of the dining area to eat on the lobby sofas and tables. And the hotel even provides containers for you to pack the food and eat in your room if you wish. Pretty thoughtful!

Good Service

As you can tell I was pleased with the good hotel service

We were very impressed by the service at this 3.5 star hotel. All the staff we interacted with were very polite and friendly, and our room was cleaned and tided by housekeeping without fail every day. The lobby provided free hot beverages and citrus-infused water, and also had computers and a printer; very helpful for guests to plan their travels and flights.

Conclusion

On the whole, even though it’s quite a mouthful to say, Residence Inn New York Downtown Manhattan / World Trade Center Area is a great value-for-money hotel that has a wonderful location, good service, and stylish rooms with great amenities. The rooms are also very affordable in the otherwise expensive Manhattan district. I highly recommend this 3.5 star hotel if you plan on staying in Manhattan during your holiday in New York City.
