There are so many awesome eateries at Tanjong Pagar Centre, and I feel elated to have discovered the best hidden gem so far: The Little Island (小槟岛)! The Chinese name is literally translated as “Little Penang Island”, which is an apt name because the restaurant specializes in super delicious and authentic Penang-style food. The first time I took a mouthful of the gutsy Assam Laksa, I fell in love with the restaurant and have been making multiple trips back. Continue reading
As our helicopter rose into the air, I was blown away by the breathtaking view of the beautiful New York City skyline. I was on the awesome helicopter tour of the Big Apple and it was truly a surreal experience! Continue reading
And yet another Poke Bowl has opened in Singapore! Makai Poke is the latest eatery that has joined the wave of poke bowl joints sweeping across Singapore and the world. Continue reading
It was 11am and we were rushing to the United Nations (UN) Headquarters for our 11.45am guided tour of the premises. The UN is an organization founded in 1945 to promote cooperation and peace between countries all over the world.
Even though most tourists will neglect the UN Headquarters in favor of flashier attractions in Manhattan New York City, we decided to visit this iconic structure because of the UN’s important role in world affairs. The organization deals with global issues such as climate change, peacekeeping, food production, human rights, and more. Continue reading
Ao Nang (Krabi) is a rustic beach destination in the Krabi province of Thailand that provides the ideal balance between convenience and lifestyle. It is easily accessible; and with the gradual over-commercialization of Phuket and Koh Samui, more people are choosing Ao Nang Krabi instead as their idyllic beach getaway.
Evan and I enjoyed our short holiday here very much. It was a nice getaway to help us de-stress from the hectic pace of city life and revel in the beautiful beaches of Ao Nang Krabi. Therefore, we hope that this travel guide will help you to enjoy Ao Nang as much as we did.
This is a guide for travelers, by travelers. Continue reading
Ao Nang is a laid-back beach destination in the Krabi province of Thailand. We enjoyed our short holiday here and below is our four days itinerary to help you plan your trip. Ao Nang is not as touristy as Phuket or Koh Samui, but there are still many great activities and awesome food. Continue reading
Shenton House is a commercial building located along Shenton Way. There are plenty of good food to eat on its first two levels! I enjoy coming here for lunch because the second level is air-conditioned and so I can eat in comfort, away from the scorching afternoon heat. The first level stalls are pretty well-sheltered so it’s quite cooling too. After checking out all the stalls in Shenton House, I have compiled a list of my eight favourite stalls, arranged in alphabetical order. Note that all the stalls close by about 4pm. Continue reading
The F&B and retail space at Tanjong Pagar Centre is now officially open! When I visited, I was spoilt for choice on what to eat as there are literally dozens of eateries from Basement 2 to Level 1 of the tower.
I was curious to find out what’s the big deal about Tanjong Pagar Centre and did some research online. This is a 64-storey “vertical city” that comprises of an office tower, a luxury residence, an atas hotel, six levels of retail/F&B space, and even a park! Incidentally, it is also the tallest building in Singapore. This is definitely the coolest place of the moment in CBD.
This article contains a list of interesting eateries in Tanjong Pagar Centre that offers delicious food (arranged in alphabetical order). I’m still exploring the numerous F&B joints, so this article will be updated along the way. Continue reading
Maafushi is a local island in Maldives that has beautiful beaches, plenty of fun activities, and lots of good food. While it might not be as luxurious as exclusive resort islands, it does provide interesting insights into the local culture. Maafushi is also very accessible; it can be reached in 40 minutes by speedboat from Male Airport. Evan and I had a short vacation here after our wedding. We understand that it is quite tedious to plan a holiday, therefore we have come up with this guide to make life easier for other people who are planning a trip to Maafushi. This is a guide for travelers, by travelers. Continue reading
Imagine a beautiful beach with soft white sand, swaying palm trees and crystalline turquoise waters under the limitless blue skies – this is Maafushi Island in Maldives. This is a summary of our five-day itinerary on the island. Hopefully you will find it useful! Continue reading
Maafushi Island is a very small island that measures around just 1.3km in length and 0.3km in width. Therefore, no matter where you stay on the island, it is still within walking distance to the beautiful beaches. Continue reading
In general, the best months to visit Maafushi are January and February. This is because during these two months, there is not much rainfall and the temperatures averages just 29 degree Celsius. Continue reading
There are lots of nice places to eat in Maafushi Island, which was great for us because we always felt famished after all the awesome beach and sea activities in Maafushi. During our stay on this alluring local island, we visited various restaurants. Below are our six favourites, arranged in alphabetical order. Do note that the restaurants charge 12% GST and 10% service charge on top of the listed price. Continue reading
Maafushi Island is an idyllic local island located in the South Male Atoll of Maldives. It is extremely easy to get to this island. First, you would need to take a flight to Male International Airport (also known as Velana International Airport) on Hulhule Island. The airport was previously known as Ibrahim Nasir International Airport. From the airport, there are two ways to get to Maafushi Island: by Ferry Service or Speedboat. Personally, we prefer the speedboat because it is a lot faster and there are more timings available. However, the ferry service is a lot cheaper.
When I first heard from a friend that the Japan Rail Cafe was going to open in Singapore at Tanjong Pagar Centre, I was a little skeptical about the concept. It seemed odd to me that a Japanese railway company (the “East Japan Railway Company”, aka JR East), would open a bistro in Singapore selling both food and Japanese rail passes. Continue reading
Velana Beach Hotel is a premier boutique hotel in Maafushi Island (Maldives) with excellent accommodation, food, and service. We were most impressed by the great hospitality of Shaza, Rimzan, and the rest of the hotel staff. They were warm and friendly to us throughout the stay, making us feel like Velana was a home away from home. Continue reading
We decided to visit the local local island of Maafushi in Maldives for a short holiday this year. It was a great holiday and here’s a list of 10 fun things to do! Continue reading
Your wedding day is approaching and it is about time to start giving out wedding invitation cards! However, you haven’t started to design the cards yet and you are feeling pretty stressed out because there’s a ton of other things to do for the wedding. This was how I felt when Evan and I were coming up with our wedding cards, but we have survived to tell the tale. Continue reading
Savis Food is now located at Marina Food House along Phillip Street, offering fusion Western food with elements of Asian cuisines. This is a popular lunch area for office workers in the surrounding CBD, and we were curious to see if Savis Food would stand out from the numerous eateries in the vicinity. Continue reading
KOI PLUS has officially opened at Plaza Singapura! However, this is not the usual KOI shop that sells bubble tea. Instead, it is a upscale cafe that serves premium Oolong tea and Red tea (known as “black tea” in the West) brewed in exquisite tea infusers. We chanced upon KOI PLUS while going to buy bubble tea at the usual KOI shop beside. We decided to give it a try as the concept seemed pretty interesting. Continue reading
Recently, we discovered Kushiya, a hidden gem at Westgate that serves awesome charcoal-grilled Japanese skewers. It may not be the most prominent eatery on the level, but its modest shopfront belies the delicious food that it has to offer. Continue reading
Yogurt fans in CBD rejoice! Yo9ood has officially opened at Food Garden in Asia Square, selling delicious frozen yogurt with a variety of fresh fruits and toppings. The shop takes over the original space occupied by Red Mango, another popular yogurt franchise.
