Wah Kee Noodle – Famous Wanton Mee Stall at Amoy Street Food Centre

“This is so good!” I thought to myself as I slurped down the wanton noodles from the famous Wah Kee Noodle (#02-125) stall in Amoy Street Food Centre. There was no doubt that I would be coming back again for this.

“Wah Kee Noodle” – Famous Wanton Mee at Amoy

Wah Kee Noodle is an old-school hawker stall in Amoy Street Food Centre that sells Cantonese-style wanton mee. It is run by a Cantonese couple.

This famous stall is quite popular and there is always a long line of office workers waiting patiently during lunch hour.

Wanton Noodle ($4.50) – So Satisfying!

When I arrived at the stall, there were already about eight people ahead of me. I waited for about fifteen minutes before getting my turn to order. I ordered the signature Wanton Noodle ($4.50) which consists of a plate of wanton mee and a bowl of wanton soup.

As I got my first taste of the noodles, I was immediately captivated by the delicious taste. I enjoyed the springy noodles which were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of bite.

But the highlight was definitely the generous portion of succulent char siew! The tasty meat was really tender with a layer of savoury fat to make it a wonderful treat.

I enjoyed the wanton soup (and the wantons inside) too, though it didn’t blow me away.

Conclusion

Personally, I feel that Wah Kee Noodle serves one of the best wanton mee in Singapore. The springy noodles and succulent char siew tasted wonderful. I would have preferred the noodles portion to be larger, but it was still a very satisfying meal.
