Penelope Cafe – Awesome Comfort Food in Manhattan, New York City!

Penelope is a rustic cafe in Manhattan (New York City) that serves satisfying comfort food for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. We dropped by on a early Thursday morning, and it was the perfect way to start the day.

Rustic Ambience

Evan looking half awake

The cafe exudes a rustic vibe with its wooden furnishings and old-school lamps, complete with mounted ceiling fans. The cafe is known for its super long queue during peak hours, so make sure you arrive early to skip the crowd. We reached the cafe at about 9am and it was already quite packed. Service was decent and our orders arrived pretty fast.

Nutella French Toast

The Nutella French Toast ($19, served with additional beverage) consists of three slices of french toast filled with warm Nutella, dusted with powdered sugar and served with caramelized bananas. And the dish was generously doused with sweet syrup. This was a super satisfying comfort food! The french toast, Nutella, and bananas turned into a sweet mush in my mouth as I chewed, romancing my taste buds and leaving me wanting more.

Farmer’s Market Omelette

We also ordered the Farmer’s Market Omelette ($19, served with additional beverage). This savoury dish consists of fresh egg omelette served with toast and Penelope’s house made home fries. The omelette was done just right, with a texture that was neither too hard or too soft. The toast and fries tasted decent. All in all, this was a savoury dish that left us pretty satisfied too.

Conclusion

If you are looking to indulge in satisfying comfort food, you should definitely check out Penelope. However, make sure you arrive early to avoid the crowd.
