On Lok Yun – Awesome Old School Cafeteria in Bangkok

On Lok Yun is a hidden gem among Bangkok eateries. It serves delicious American-Thai food in an old school cafeteria. Given that it is located near Grand Palace and Wat Pho, we decided to pop by for a tea break after visiting those iconic tourist attractions. This article was last updated on 16 December 2019.

On Lok Yun – 1980s Style Cafeteria with American Thai Food

Ice Tea & Milk Tea

Egg Custard Bread

French Toast

Sausage with eggs, ham and bacon

Banana Cake (not on menu)

The cafeteria has a vintage 1980s style decor with old school ceiling fans to keep the place cool. The simple menu only has 2 pages, which makes ordering very easy.

We ordered almost everything on the menu, from the Bread with Butter, to the French Toast to the American Style Eggs with Bacon, Ham and Sausages!

My verdict: The Milk Tea and Ice Tea were good and not overly sweet. The French toast was served hot and we really enjoyed the Egg Custard Bread too. The American style breakfast was pretty normal and a little oily.

Make sure you order the Banana Cake to try too! It is not listed on the menu but is really rich and fragrant.
