5 Best Mookata Restaurants in the West of Singapore!

Mookata is a Thai-style barbecue that combines elements of Korean BBQ and Chinese Hotpot. Basically, the meat is grilled on a dome in the centre, while other ingredients are cooked steamboat-style around the dome. I simply love indulging in Mookata, and below I have compiled 5 of my favourite Mookata restaurants in the Western part of Singapore (arranged in alphabetical order). This article was last updated on 20 June 2020.

1. 1345 Mookata @ Bukit Batok

1345 Mookata is located inside a coffeeshop at the ground level of The Elitist, a commercial building at Bukit Batok Crescent. We enjoy coming here because of its relatively ulu location, which means the area is quite peaceful and quiet. More importantly, we have visited this joint numerous times and the ingredients are always extremely fresh and delicious. We usually go for the Set Platter ($32.80) which is just nice for two persons. You can order Ala Carte too. 1345 Mookata has never disappointed us, and I’m sure you will definitely enjoy the food here too!

2. 2211 Mookata @ Jurong West

2211 Mookata SingaporeIf you are looking for a Mookata joint with friendly staff and a great vibe, 2211 Mookata is the place for you! The stall is located towards the far West end of Jurong, so it is relatively difficult to get there by public transport. On the other hand, this means that the place is usually not too crowded. We were impressed by the great service; the staff were all friendly and prompt. 2211 Mookata also serves delicious Thai Milk Tea which goes nicely with the feisty Tom Yam soup base and fresh ingredients. The platter for 2 goes for just $22, while the platter for 4 is $40.

3. Bangkok Street Mookata @ Jurong West

Bangkok Street Mookata SingaporeThis was one of the first Mookatas we tried and till today Bangkok Street Mookata is still one of our favourite in Singapore! This is because the ingredients are extremely fresh and delicious. The price is very affordable too (Platter for 2 = $22, Platter for 4 = $39). We loved Bangkok Street Mookata’s homemade chilli sauce, which tasted great with the barbecued items. This joint is perfect for a quick supper fix if you are living in the area.

4. Siam Square Mookata @ Boon Lay

Siam Square Mookata SingaporeSiam Square has expanded their business rapidly in Singapore, with branches now at Jurong East, Boon Lay, Woodlands, Tampines, Havelock, and other locations. We dined at the Boon Lay Shopping Centre branch, which is a no-frills joint with a vintage-Singapore allure. Near the stall you can find old-school fruit stalls, traditional provision shops, clothing stalls, and even a record store that sells cassette tapes. The shopping centre is itself surrounded by aged HDB buildings. Other than the standard Mookata items, Siam Square Mookata also offers pricier items like scallops and abalone. Take a trip back to 1980s Singapore by dining at Siam Square Mookata Boon Lay!

5. Siam Square Mookata @ Jurong East

Recently, we dined at Siam Square in Jurong East, which is the only Mookata joint in this list that is located inside an air-conditioned food court. Therefore, it had a relatively more comfortable environment. Similar to the branch in Boon Lay, the ingredients were all fresh and delicious. We also enjoyed pretty good service here. The food court is conveniently located near the big shopping malls (JCube, Westgate and Jem), and we went for a walk at Westgate after our satisfying meal.
