Aglio Olio – Hidden Gem Serving Italian Cuisine With a Singapore Twist, Now With Islandwide Delivery

Aglio Olio is one of my favourite places to dine in Singapore. Located at China Square Central, this cozy restaurant serves delectable Italian food with a local twist. I’ve visited the restaurant many times over the years, so this review is long overdue. Update (01 June 2020): Aglio Olio is now delivering islandwide. The delivery fee is $5 nett, and a minimum order of $40 applies. Enjoy free delivery for orders above $60. Order here.

Lovely Ambience and Service

Charming Rustic Ambience of Aglio Olio China Square Central (Singapore)
I love Aglio Olio’s relaxed ambience. The restaurant is decorated with pastel-coloured furnishings, ornamental lamps, and impressionistic paintings on the walls.

Service is good and consistent. The staff are always very polite and I’ve never had any problems with the service during the many times I dined here.

Aglio Olio serves a variety of pastas, pizzas, lasagnas, and sides.

The drinks menu offers a decent selection of beers, wines, liquors, and other flavoured drinks.

The prices are extremely affordable: none of the pastas cost over $15, and you can get a half-pint Hoegaarden for just $4.90.

A Local Twist: Pastas Served with Chilli Padis

If you enjoy spicy food, you will love their pastas because they are served with plenty of chilli padis.

You get to choose the spiciness level: mild, normal, spicy, and extra spicy. The higher the level, the more the chilli padis.

I tried the “Extra Spicy” level once and it was one of the spiciest foods I had ever tasted. It was a painful lesson and from then on, I usually go for mild or normal.

The “Aglio Olio Pasta” comes in a variety of flavours: Original Olio, Seafood Olio, Fish Olio, Pepperoni Olio, etc.

It tastes decent and homely, and it is precisely this unassuming taste that endears me to this pasta. I simply adore its honest-to-goodness flavour!
